Summer's Not Over Yet! Join TPD for Back-to-School Fun and Giving
July 30, 2025
As the first day of school approaches, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is helping students get classroom-ready and giving families one more chance to enjoy a night out with their favorite first responders. From collecting supplies to sharing smiles, we're keeping the spirit of summer alive just a little longer.
Pack the Patrol Car – Saturday, Aug. 2 | 10 a.m.–2 p.m. | Walmart (5500 Thomasville Rd.)
Before students hit the books, help us make sure they're fully equipped to succeed! TPD is hosting its annual Pack the Patrol Car school supply drive on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Walmart located at 5500 Thomasville Road.
A marked patrol car will be parked outside the store, and community members are encouraged to stop by and help us "pack the patrol car" with essential school supplies. Needed items include:
- Backpacks
- Pencils & Pens
- Paper & Notebooks
- Folders
- Other basic school supplies
All donations will go directly to local children in need to ensure a strong start to the school year. Whether you bring one item or a whole bag, every contribution makes a difference.
National Night Out – Tuesday, Aug. 5 | 6–8 p.m. | Cascades Park
Just a few days later, join TPD and our local public safety partners for an evening of music, food and family fun at National Night Out at Cascades Park. This annual event brings neighbors and first responders together to celebrate community and safety.
Enjoy food (while supplies last), live music and the chance to meet officers, firefighters, EMTs and more. Participating agencies include the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Tallahassee Fire Department, Florida Highway Patrol, FDLE Capitol Police and others.
"Every year, National Night Out reminds us that public safety is a shared effort, and it starts with trust," said Chief Lawrence Revell. "We're excited to connect with families before the school year begins and continue building the kind of community we're all proud to call home."
